When I started this blog, I was a bachelor student from Colombia (for those of you thinking there’s a typo in there, I’m talking about the country in South America). Not surprisingly, I got into Japanese culture by watching anime some years ago. Leaving that aside, I had grown fond of the way things went around over there. Their conception of life, society, food, arts and technology is something I dreamed of getting to be in touch with. I actually felt being called by that land even though I was pretty far away.
My chances of actually getting there, though, limited to the government sponsored scholarship known as the Monbukagakusho. I’m pretty sure that that it’s offered on all countries in which there’s a Japanese embassy. The thing is, there’s some info on the web about the journey implied in applying and actually getting it, but not as much as I would have liked at the time. There are some blogs of foreigners living in Japan and some forums about the scholarship, which even though I plan to eventually link, just don’t give away the best perspective for me. That fact, again not surprisingly, makes me want to take things by my own hand and try to share my experience with others who want to know more about the government sponsored, foreign graduate student POV.
So, I’m just starting to develop this idea, hopefully I will make some introductory posts soon and after a while I’ll have interesting stuff to write about. Also, if you (is there even anyone reading this?) think that this is a good idea, some supporting comments wouldn’t bother.
Sí, sí, almenos hay uno quien lee tu blog… otro loco que quiere recibir una de las becas Monbukagakusho. Solo dos días antes, traje los documentos necesarios para el proceso al servicio postal. A ver si quieran tambien hablar conmigo – el segundo parte del proceso. Pero yo no escribo tanto por querer ir a Japón porque si menos lo saben, menos quienes yo tuviera explicar si no consiguo recibirlo (pero probablemente sea mejor decir en los “tags” de mi blog que se trate del Monbukagakusho cuando dice “Japan application”).
